Elon Musk put his $44 billion buyout of Twitter "temporarily on hold" because he wanted more information about how many accounts are fake or spam.

Before buying Twitter, Elon Musk wants to know more about the amount of fake accounts in Twitter.

Early Friday morning, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted a link to a recent Reuters article on the company's planned takeover.

According to Reuters, of the 229 million Twitter users who viewed ads in the first quarter of 2022, less than 5% were fake accounts.

According to Twitter's first-quarter financial report, which it issued days after reaching a sales agreement with Musk, the 5% number is accurate.

He later added a reply stating, "Still committed to acquisition."

Elon Musk says he wants to buy Twitter to protect free expression and he just wants to restored former President Trump account.
